Eat Right

Some studies have found that selenium may reduce acne breakouts when used with Vitamin E. It is found in Brazil nuts, eggs and fish.

Concealer or No Concealer

Avoid piling the concealer on it so that the pimple can resolve naturally. If you need to apply concealer, only put a dab over it as excessive concealer is as obvious as the pimple itself.

Fads Don't Work

Don’t follow fad ideas such as applying toothpaste or aftershave as you risk infecting the area and that will make the pimple grow, not go!

Cleanse Don't Scrub

Cleanse your skin, but don’t scrub it because that can make the pimple angry and sore. Avoid exfoliating the affected area until it has cleared, but keep cleaning your face as normal so that you don’t suffer an outbreak elsewhere.

Hygiene

Always wash your hands and face before touching a pimple, otherwise you risk transferring more dirt directly to the pimple.

Cold as Ice

Use a cold compress to reduce the swelling of a large pimple, or apply a warm pad to a pimple that has formed a head as this will help it heal.

Hands Off

No matter how tempting it may be, do not squeeze a spot or pick it when it is healing. Not only are you damaging the skin, but you are turning it into an open sore that will attract more dirt.

The Oldies Work Well

If you really want to put something on the pimple to help it on its way, then try witch hazel or aloe vera, which are natural remedies. Both have skin-soothing and anti-inflammatory properties and are often used in acne cosmeceuticals.
