Do you struggle with dry skin all year round or get dry patches when the weather turns cold? Dry skin doesn’t have to be the bane of your life; it can be managed well if you are willing to put in the effort. Here are our top 4 tips to help you keep dry skin in check.
Moisturising is key; moisturise morning and night for the best results. If you suffer from dry skin then look for a product that offers all-day hydration and remember to apply it to your neck as well as your face. Don’t apply too much as this can cause breakouts. Just apply a dab on the neck, forehead and each cheek , then work the moisturiser into the skin using circular motions.
Makeup can be incredibly drying, but there are products on the market designed specifically for dry skin. Use them sparingly and use brushes and blenders, rather than your fingers, to apply. Always remember to remove makeup with a dry-skin friendly product at the end of the day and then apply your overnight moisturiser to keep your skin in tip-top condition.
Diet and Exercise
Having a healthy diet and exercise regime is recommended for every skin type, but is especially needed if you have dry skin. Beauty begins on the inside, so make sure you drink the recommended amount of water each day, avoid fast food and takeaways and exercise to keep your body healthy and happy.
Wash with tepid water to avoid overheating your skin each day. If you wash in very hot water you will remove all the much needed essential oils from your skin, making it drier than it already is. It may take some getting used to, but your skin will thank you for making this easy change.
